Help diagnose an annoying squeek.....

When my 08 Off Road is sitting at idle (whether warm or cold), there is a cycling squeek noise coming from the engine bay. When I start to depress the clutch pedal (even the slightest), it goes away. Any thoughts?

Common problem with the throw out bearing on the 6 speeds. Take it to the dealer and get the tranny warranty replaced.

What do you mean "get the tranny warranty replaced"? It's at 51,000 miles, and long out of warranty...

throwout bearing.



tranny doesn't need replaced, just the throwout bearing.



i don't remember whether it it a 3/36 item, or a 5/60 item.

Except you can't just replace the throwout bearing because by the time its squeaking, it's taken out the input shaft as well. Which means a new bell housing.
