The shifter on my '05 Taco double cab 4X4 has been getting stiffer when going from park to drive. This causes the check engine light to come on and then the cruise control will not work. I sprayed the linkage with wd-40 and worked it back and forth to free it up. This works for a while, but the problem has returned. The linkage boot is not damaged. I had the dealer clear the transmission code once. I assume warranty will cover this.
Anybody else having the same problem?

i haven't heard of that problem before. i would definitely have the dealership take care of it before it's past the warranty

My 2005 V6 4.0 liter automatic dbl cab has done the exact same thing at 120K miles. Tought it might be either park neutral park adjustment / alignment or even problem w/ fluid flow. It has been cycling b/t good and bad and now am exrta careful to watch slector light on dash.
Any news from anyone??
