Red flashing security light on immobilizer...

Is always flashing even with engine on. This bothers the hell out of me at night. Any way to turn it off? 2005 Corrolla 10,354 miles yup this is the car the little old lady drove to church. Minty @6g's not bad but this light keeps flashing... The key fob thing works fine playing with that does not make the light go off

How does it bother you with the key in the ignition but not started at night? Do you mean it flashes with the engine on while driving? Sounds like you have a key that is was not original, with the chip, but a copy. Is the key head metal, plastic, or black (not gray) rubber? When did you buy the car and does it come with just one key? What if anything is written or displayed on the key head?

the light is always flashing while parked or driving down the highway.

Bump, edited while you replied. Does your lock/unlock/panic work on your key fob? You may need to program it only if the fob does not work and the batteries are ok.

You may need to go to the dealer to get the VIN reprogrammed into the chip in the key. Check engine light on? Might be p2799. Did the you just get the ECU recall work done? Can you unlock the doors with just the key, not the fob? Does it have a remote start?

After taking it to work, a 52 mile drive one way, I've noticed the security light (left of the sterring column) flashs 4 times than pauses for a bit than 4 more flashes and it does not stop. The key fob is in perfect (like new) working order. Pushing it's buttons while the car is running does nothing. There is no malfunction lights on.

What about the key, what does it look like, see above posts. You will probably end up going to the dealer in the end to get the vin re entered. The short term is to cover the light with electrical tape and then go to the dealer to have them look at it.

That seems to be what I'll do but I try to do all my own work and never see the dealer at all. They charge too much.
