Cut tweeter/mid speaker holes into door panels

Hi

I just purchased a 2007 camry (upgrade from a 92), and love it.

I am planning to upgrade the sound system. I'm thinking of buying a two part speaker for the front door - and placing the tweeter near the door sill near the door handle - has anyone done this?

I've also noticed that there seems to be room in the rear doors for speakers - has anyone cut a hole in the rear door panels and wire in speakers?

Thanks!

If you are going for the best imaging, keep the tweeter as close to the mid as possible. There is enough space in that opening for stock 6x9 speaker for a 6.5 + 1.25" tweeter.

Since your going with a component set up front, why dont you make a bracket and stick the tweek in the factory location in the dash, its better than drilling a fat hole in the door or pillar. With money and fabrication you can easily add speakers in the rear doors if you wish. I'd say just go with a good 6.5in component set up front and put the tweeter in the factory dash location and some good 6x9's in the rear and amp them with a nice 4 ch. amp and you will be more than happy.

Because the factory speaker about double the size of most tweeters and is horrible for imaging. Not to mention it's pointing up at the windshield.

Yes!

To and audiophile, the delay in sound reflection is bad for imaging when trying to upgrade to a component set. Now stock it sounds ok, but if you just put the tweet up there in the dash then u might end up with worse sound than when u started.

Oh, and to the o.p<<dont just cut holes in the door. Glass them. Your car will love you more that way...
