Nah man, it'll melt. You can buy just the flex pipe and have it welded in if you're not keen on dropping $250-300CDN on a new front pipe.

PVC= Big No-No!!!

It'll give off toxic fumes when it gets good and hot, I was going to do my cold-air kit out of this stuff and even that gets too hot to be safe

I'd just follow deep on this one

It is welded! You'll need to cut your existing flex first and reweld your new one, no other choice. And don't try with those special ehaust pastes, I tried it first that way and the result was pathetic : you'll need to weld it !

Was the 2.25 inner diameter or outer?

vanmankline,

First of all, this thread is over 6 years old. Not many of these posters figure to still be aropund TN.

Where he said 2.2, he was talking about which engine he has, not the diameter of the pipe. The 2.2 liter is also known as the 5SFE 4 cylinder engine used on the Carmys form 1992-2001.

There have been people on this forum who have used a 2 inch diameter flex pipe available at most auto parts stores. I believe it is 10 icnhes long, but I'm not sure of that. Most people just cut out the old pipe and slip this aftermarket one on over the solid exhaust area and clamped it down using mufler clamps. There have been several threads on this so do a search.

Here's one of the threads about this repair:
