Rotor Wear

I replaced rotor about 5000 miles ago.

I went to look at how its wearing and find the contact end deformed as if its hitting against the cap points.

Could this deformation be caused by something other than direct contact with the cap?

Wish I could show you a photo but having camera and phone camera issues.

Its common for the cap points and rotor to have buildup and material on them after some use.

If they were actually contacting A. it would get messed up really fast. B. if it were just barely hitting, it'd wear down and not hit after a short time and there isn't a problem anymore.
